University of Tulsa
Established in Tulsa, Oklahoma is the University of Tulsa, a private institute that has rated twelfth among fifty of the finest colleges in the United States for international students in Forbes magazine. At least twenty percent of UT’s students are international, expressing more than sixty nations among different languages and customs. Bynum's main interest in the project is that the feeling of the facility is what’s going to be essential to grow Tulsa of the present-day.
As an added bonus to attract international students worldwide and aid their arrival, Tulsa owns an international airport for recruiting travelers in and out of the region to nonstop destinations. University of British Columbia
The university has released many strategies to gain international attention. The UBC Excellence fund is one example. The fund is intended to support global enrollment and enhance the future experiences of new recruits from different cultures. UBC is globally engaged in addition to being the hearth to over 11,000 international students. The Indigenous Strategic Initiatives is head of international recruitment campaigns that will captivate students from around the world. The Vantage One program is another initiative for first-year international students who may need additional English teaching. This program is issued for eleven months and assists the international community in their advancements into the second year of their degree. Not including the financial aid program that contributes to attracting students worldwide which is focused on appealing with school districts and nations where UBC has less students.
Maryo is from Minya, Egypt whose idea of enrolling in UBC was to study how international governments contribute to the most in danger communities throughout the world. However, a red light was given to Maryo because of his lack of requirements for UBC’s English language. Though with his academic performances and willpower he was awarded a scholarship for the Vantage One program. The close knit support group and extra language courses permitted Maryo to move forward into his degree within the second year. After an exchange visit to Mexico for a year, Maryo has built an even stronger network within himself and others with new developed skills, and is now in line to graduate.
UBC’s campus is open to bright individuals who come from many parts of the world outside of Canada with much potential to succeed in their growth in education and are open to new challenges.
Comparisons
Aside from the factual information and ways of action these two institutions have gone about promoting and aiding international recruits, both offer essential benefits that all contribute to gaining the global audience's attention. This is all done through scholarships, achievable awards, programs, mass organizations, and especially through global engagement, which are all provided for the future international generation to make their stay at these universities a warm welcoming one. The University of Tulsa hosts over two-hundred organized clubs on campus either international, social and academic, including student council and rec sports. The university also offers many scholarships, the most respected is the Presidential Scholarship, which covers the entire cost of tuition for four years aside from summers. Shifting over to the University of British Columbia, scholarships are awarded to recognized achievements throughout the term to students worldwide. UBC has donated over thirty-million dollars yearly to be capable of giving out financial support for international undergraduates.
UBC Global engagement strategy can be illustrated in a framework consisting of two pillars, four themes, and four action directions. The two pillars consist of endorsing global citizenship and enhancing today’s world. The four themes listed on the figure below represent an impulse for making important decisions on what and how the university should take part in ways to manage life changing results. The outermost of the circle are the four action directions. Each one is a different path to guide the university’s plans of action, strategies and prime concerns.
UT’s Center for Global Engagement appoints multi opportunities for the interaction with the international community. The center serves over four-hundred global students from seventy individual countries. UT provides other ways of engagement by showcasing events and special organizations such as the International Education Week in November in company with the Association of International Students who celebrate this once a year, including the International Bazaar. This is where different cultures are exhibited and the student bodies display objects and customs while serving dishes from around the world. After that is a national parade and performance.
